Brain Boosting Mug Cake

Having a sweet treat at the end of the day does not have to put your body into a tailspin! By using ingredients such as grass-fed butter, we are incorporating healthy fats into our diet and increasing our brain health at the same time! What a smart way to end your day! Try this simple recipe for delicious mug cake and allow the ingredients to satisfy your cravings and keep your body running strong.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons dark chocolate, chopped up very finely
  • 1 tablespoon grass-fed butter
  • 3 teaspoons coconut flour
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate protein powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 egg

Frosting:

  • 2 tablespoons of almond milk
  • ½ scoop of any protein powder

Directions:

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 F.

Step 2: Place oven-safe mugs in the oven while preheating to avoid cracking.

Step 3: Melt dark chocolate and grass-fed butter in a saucepan or in the microwave. Pour chocolate mixture into a small mixing bowl.

Step 4: Add in coconut flour, chocolate protein powder, baking powder, sea salt and egg and whisk until completely combined.

Step 5: Carefully remove mug from the oven and pour mixture into the mug. Place back in the oven.

Step 6: Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

To make the frosting:

Add all ingredients together and whisk until a thin syrup forms. Drizzle on top of the mug cake. Add berries on top and enjoy!
